Government Exposed Again after Rape

Now, after public roar on the issue of gang rape in Delhi, government is ready to change outdated rape law. Government has constituted a committee under chairmanship of retired chief justice J.S. Verma, to look into the law for its further amendment. This committee has started its work and will submit the report within one month. Do you know the government’s position on this issue at international forums?
Not only regressive rape laws, government has decided not to amend the constitution to ensure reservation to women in the Parliament and assemblies. This is not the end of government’s dual talk. It has also refused to take adequate measures to guarantee and monitor the effective implementation of the prevention of atrocities act and providing legal means for an increased protection of vulnerable groups like Dalits including access to legal remedies for affected persons.
This dual face of our Aam Aadami UPA government can be clearly seen in the united nation’s human rights status report-2012. United nation human rights council (UNHRC) makes a periodic review of human rights of all 193 member states. India’s first universal periodic review took place in year 2008 and the latest one in year 2012. Many government delegation  were sent abroad to represent its views, spending crores of public money.
Report clearly exposes the government’s double speak which claims to work day and night for poor, dalits, women and aam aadami. On page number 206, under the heading- ‘Barriers to access to justice: Regressive Laws’, there was a proposal to enact comprehensive reforms to address SEXUAL VIOLENCE against women, including  ‘HONOUR CIMES’, child marriage, female foeticide and female infanticide, and to remedy limitations in the definition of RAPE and medico-forensic procedures accepted for RAPE cases. Government had straightway rejected it.
Similarly on page number 209, there is a proposal to take adequate measures to guarantee and monitor the effective implementation of the prevention of atrocities act, providing legal means for an increased protection of vulnerable groups like DALITS, including the access to legal remedies for affected persons is also rejected by government of India. Even this was not accepted by our government.
Most striking attitude of UPA government can be seen on page number 211 of the report. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi has claimed publically on many occasions that the government is trying to pass women reservation bill, which seeks to reserve 33 percent seats for women in the Loksabha and Assemblies. All the time she blames that opposition is creating hurdle in smooth passage of this bill.  This bill requires 108th amendment in the constitution. UNHRC Proposal was to consider expediting the process to pass the 108th constitutional amendment bill. Do you know what our government replied on this proposal- NOT ACCEPTED.
Looking at the real face of our government, it can be predicted easily that the new amendment in Rape Law will not include Death Penalty or Chemical Castration for convicts. Now, it is time to think seriously about our democracy and the government of the people, for the people and by the people.

That was a different RAPE!

Delhi rape case has seriously shaken the psyche of the nation. People across the country are on the road. Women parliamentarians of almost all political parties expressed their anguish in Loksabha and Rajya sabha. On tuesday Congress MP and Spokesperson Renuka Chaudhary briefed media. After detailed input about party women MPs hectic meetings with Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Delhi Police Commissioner, She Strongly condemned the incident.
After official party briefing she gave her own Reaction on the issue. Renuka demanded a special punishment of Chemical Castration of the culprits. Not only this, she further added that these culprits after castration, should be kept in a jail and they should be strictly engaged in hard work. She further added that their monthly earning should be deposited in the bank account of the victim. On the question of capital punishment, Renuka said, 'Capital Punishment is the matter of debate, I am against it. Giving a capital punishment to a rapist mean, you are giving him a life. He should be kept alive  to live a death experience everyday.
It was a group of at least one and half dozen of media persons. One Senior journalist asked her to react on a very much publicised rape case of Jammu and Kashmir, which had happened few years ago, in which many local congress leaders were involved. In order to harass the victim's family accused got the case transferred from Jammu and Kashmir court to Chandigarh court. Now no witness is ready to come to Chandigarh court. Very soon these accused will be made free by the court. Renuka promptly answered, 'That was a Different RAPE!.

Sangh- The Real Mentor of BJP

In a democracy different organisations try to propogate their ideology through many socially acceptable tools, and politics is one of the most important one. Right wing social organisation Rashtriya Swaymsevak Sangh in India is doing the same now a days with its political front, which is the main opposition Party. The ongoing infight in the BJP over the issues of  party president Nitin Gadkari and prime ministerial candidate is the result of a long term Game-plan of sangh leadership. Sangh is very much clear to its hindutva agenda and well determined to change the central leadership.
According to relaiable sources in RSS and BJP, vetran lawyer and Rajyasabha MP Ram Jethmalani's open revolt against Gadkari is the counter attack by Advani lobby which includes many central heavy weights having roots either in sangh or outside of sangh. There is no doubt that in case Bjp comes to the power in 2014 loksabha election, the only primeministerial candidate for BJP will be Lalkrishna Advani. In that case RSS leadership will actively try to make consensus, so that the pioneer of Hindu navjagaran and one of its oldest Pracharak, decorate the top executive post.Media has not noticed the recent visit of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to the Mazar of Kayad-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinna, founder of Pakistan, where Advani has already paid a visit and afterwads removed from the BJP president's post. Nitish Kumar is from JD(U) and its president Sharad Yadav is the convenor of BJP led National Democratic Alliance. Sharad Yadav has a very coridial relationship with Sangh leadership. It would not be a surprise that in the event of getting power in 2014, Sharad Yadav may propose the name of Advani and it will get appoval of the whole right wing alliance. There is no doubt that sangh has maitained a safe distance from Advani to make him more secular. On the other hand Advani at his level is trying hard to win the heart and mind of Muslims since he was made Deputy Primeminister during NDA regime.
RSS leadership has a plan which goes beyond "would be prime minister" Lalkrishna Advani. Sources revealed that sangh leadership has decided to change its political front in such a way that there should be a strong central leadership which can move forward the country towards the direction of its ideolgy. source said that Sar Sanghchalak Mohan Rao Bhagvat has told Nitin Gadkari to create a cental leadership which can lead the party on sangh ideology for next twenty years. A clear agenda with this tag is already given to Nitin Gadkari. He has started to implement it. Advani and his supporters are feeling insecure and the recent lekages in the media about Gadkari's company 'Purti Group' is the handiwork of them. Internal investigation has proved this and those involved in leakages against 'purti group' were taken at task by Gadkari. Gadkari has already got the clean chit from sangh ideologue Gurumurthy and he has challenged for any type of enquiry from government agencies.
Now there is no doubt that Gadkari will get the second term, no matter who opposes him. In case there is any voice  against Gadkari from any party member in the media, it will be treated as a challenge to the writ of sangh and will be throttled down as it was done in the case of Ram Jethmalani and his son Mahesh Jethmalani. Sangh has clearly informed the BJP leaders that ideology is much more important for them than getting the Power.
